Learn to install a new CD player in your Tundra, whether you are replacing a broken unit or trying to upgrade stereo quality...#
Gather all materials and make sure your work space has adequate lighting. Installing a new CD player will take approximately 30 minutes, so make sure you have ample time. If you are installing an aftermarket CD player, you will need a dash installation kit to mount the player. You will also need a wiring harness to hook up the CD player. If you are installing another factory CD player, you will not need these items.
#
Step 2
Pop the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable with pliers.
#
Step 3
Open the ashtray panel in the center of the Tundra's dash. Remove the screw. Use the trim panel tool to remove the center dash panel. There are four clips to disengage. Models from 2007 and after will also require the removal of the air-conditioning vent controls. Use the trim tool to remove them.
#
Step 4
Remove the four screws mounting the CD player to the dash and slide out the radio. Disconnect the electrical module and the antenna cable. Set the old CD player aside.
#
Step 5
Mount the dash installation kit in the cavity and connect the wires to the wiring harness, according to CD player instructions, if you are installing an aftermarket CD player. Connect the module to the CD player and plug in the antenna cable. Mount the CD player in the dash with the screws.
#
Step 6
Place the trim panel back in position and push, to lock it back in. Replace the screws you took out earlier and reconnect the battery cable.
